WHAT DO YOU USE FOR YOUR GOLD JEWELERY?

VERMEIL and SOLID GOLD

We use vermeil, which consists of premium 925 silver coated 3x in the same 14k gold we use for our solid gold pieces. The thickness of gold on our pieces is 6x the normal amount of gold found in plating.

Below is a comparison of the three most commonly used metals in jewelry:

GOLD PLATED

• Lowest cost

• Copper or brass base metal

• Thin layer (0.5 microns) of gold

• Won't last long; will tarnish

• May irritate sensitive skin

VERMEIL

• Affordable & better quality

• 925 silver base metal

• Thick layer (3 microns) of gold

• Good for wearing everyday; won't tarnish

• Good for all skin types; hypoallergenic

SOLID GOLD

• Highest cost, best quality

• 10 karat gold is made up of 41.7% gold and highly durable. It’s very difficult to scratch, scuff or bend jewelry made from 10K gold.

• 14k gold consists of 58.3% (14/24) solid gold, the rest being other alloys

• Good for wearing everyday; won't tarnish

• Good for all skin types; hypoallergenic

STERLING SILVER

Our jewelry collection uses pure 925 silver coated in rhodium, which gives them brilliant shine and durability. Rhodium is a precious metal and a member of the platinum family which has been favored in jewelry for its luxurious sheen, value, and rarity.

WHAT STONES DO YOU USE?

MOISSANITE

We use hand selected flawless Moissanite (VVS clarity, D color) throughout all our iced pieces. These stones are lab-made (consisting of carbon and silicon) under high pressure, similar to a lab grown diamond (which consists of pure carbon).

CUBIC ZIRCONIA

• Lowest cost

• Colorless & sparkles well

• Made from Zirconium Oxide

• Does not conduct heat, therefore does not pass diamond testers

• Sensitive to heat

• Least toughness & durability

• Easily scratched

• Goes cloudy over time

MOISSANITE

• Affordable & better quality

• Lab-made (from carbon & silicon)

• Tests as authentic on a diamond tester as its an effective heat
conductor

• Higher refractive index (meaning how much a gemstone bends light) than lab grown diamonds, therefore it has the most fire and brilliance

• Scores 9.5 out of 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness

• Will not lose its sparkle or go cloudy over time

LAB GROWN DIAMONDS

• Highest cost

• Made from pure carbon

• Expensive due to the high cost of bringing it to market and the limited supply of good quality diamonds.

• Scores 10 on the Mohs scale of hardness

• Refractive index of 2.42 (lower than Moissanite's refractive index, which is 2.65)

WHY MADE TO ORDER?

Make to Order (MTO) is a production technique in which producers start manufacturing a product only after the customer places an order for it. In such a case, commodities are produced in a customized manner according to the specifications of the customer.

Unlike Make to Stock, MTO does not require companies to hold inventories of finished goods. Therefore, there is no risk of wastage of inventory.
Since it is made according to specifications of the customer, delivery times are much more lengthy than other generic goods.

Advantages of Make To Order

1. Reduces wastage

When a stock of goods lies unsold, there is a wastage not only of the materials used to make them, but also the money and labor put into producing them. In MTO, since products are manufactured after receiving a customer’s order and in the quantity specified, wastage and loss are minimized.

2. Less inefficiency

When a large variety of goods are made on a large-scale basis, there is a risk of inefficiency because workers and machines need to adhere to different rules. In MTO, all efforts are focused on making the product according to the specifications of the customer, so workers and machines tend to be more efficient.

3. Greater variety

Since only customized goods are produced and sold, MTO offers a greater variety of products. In fact, it provides customers the product exactly the way they want it.

Disadvantages of Make To Order

1. Irregular sales

It is difficult to determine when demand may arise for a particular customized product. So, there may be periods of high sales and months of no sale at all.

2. Lengthy delivery time

Since production starts after receiving an order, the product reaches the customer after some time. Moreover, because it takes time to customize the product, the delivery time may take longer.
